John Paul Jones founded the
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1800. The shipyard is actually
across the baay in Kittery, Maine. Most of the buildings in the
city date from the 18th century and have been preserved. A
number of the houses have been converted to museums. The city
is a popular tourist destination in the summer.

125-year-old theater which features movies, concerts, and plays
during the summer.
