Mid-Atlantic Destinations

The United States Census Bureau recognizes three states as forming the Mid-Atlantic region: New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. In recent years because of the economic and political centers in this area, the states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, and the capital, Washington, D. C., have been categorized as Mid-Atlantic.

This region has been populated by a number of European migrant groups including the Dutch, the Swedish, as well as the English. The settlers alos had different religious backgrounds: Roman Catholic, Quakers, and Baptists.

Mid-Atlantic DestinationsThe early settlers were mostly farmers and fishermen. These cities provided gateways to other parts of the country and ports at New York, Delaware, and Baltimore gave rise to cities.

Most of this area is urbanized but there are still beaurtiful forests, national parks, campsites, and the Appalachian Trail runs through this area.

You can find activities and festivals all year long to visit on your vacation.
