Exploring Vermont

Vermont is the leading producer of maple syrup in the United States. It is known for its Green Mountain National Forest which provides hiking tails and campsites.

The state does not have a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean, hence no ocean beaches. The state does get plenty of snow in the winter and has some of the best ski slopes in the northeastern United States. The annual snowfall averages between 60 to 100 inches depending on the elevation. Vermont has some of the best cross-country and won-hill ski slopes.

Vermont welcomes tourists. In winter, skiers from around the world take their turns on the many slopes. Summer camps Vermont Mount Mansfieldare also an important tourist destination for trout fishing and hiking. The foliage changes colors in mid-October and another reason for tourists to visit.

A number of festivals are held during the year including:

Marlboro Music Festival: Public performances are given by students receiving advanced training at the Marlboro Music School each summer.

Vermont Mozart Festival: Founded in 1974, the festival presents programs in winter and summer. Performers have included established musicians as well as new talent.

Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory is located in Waterbury. The company provides tours.
