Exploring New Hampshire

New Hampshire was the first of the thirteen colonies to declare its independence from England. New Hampshire is the only state that does not have a general sales tax or personal income property tax.

It is a state with mountains and a long, winter season for skiers. In summer there is camping, hiking, canoeing, kakaying, and fishing. In the fall, you can tour the region to see the colorful changing of the leaves.

Mount Washington, in the White Mountain range, is the highest peak in the northeastern United States. Every three days, hurricane-force winds are recorded at the weather station.

New Hampshire State LinePopular tourist spots are Hampton Bay in the summer and the northern part of the state which has a number of ski resorts open in winter.

The climate of New Hampshire is warm and humid in summer and cold and snowy in winter.

A number of different festivals and activities take place in New Hampshire. During the summer, there are a a number of county fairs. The largest county fair, Hopkinton State Fair, is held in Contoocook.

There are a number of camping areas if you like the outdoors. The state holds the New Hampshire Highland Games each year. Ice fishing is popular in winter when the lakes freeze.
